Gosh, it’s been a minute…

“Where light Breaks”, Kerry Inkster, 2026, Acrylic on wood, 20.3cm W x 25.4cm H x 4.3cm D

Long time no speak… I’ve been busy, I guess?!

Let’s see - since last time I made a blog I have… moved studio, renovated my house, four kids have left home, had two dogs die, bought a new puppy, been to Germany for a 2 month residency, held my first overseas exhibition, been a Finalist in a photographic portrait exhibition, done another photo shoot, been overseas to Japan two more times, bought a new house, moved interstate, moved my studio…again, renovated my new studio, exhibited a hundred times, had my first three photography only exhibitions, and here I am… I’m sure there are a few headliners that I’ve forgotten, but that’s enough, I think! :)

So, since moving to my new home in Fish Creek, Victoria, my life has been a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally. Effectively, I’ve temporarily retired from teaching yoga 10-12 times a week, and have really struggled as I so miss my yogis. I love teaching and helping people get in touch with their inner selves. I’ve had to come to terms with that, and have also been struggling with full-blown menopause. It’s rare, but the next woman who tells me she “hasn’t felt a thing”, I’m going to punch her in the face. I’ve been through 3 different HRT medications; this last one seems to be working well. So watch this space - let’s hope this one sticks.

On a lighter note, inspired by my travels to Japan and my love of traditional Ukiyo-e prints, I have developed a little side note to my usual way of painting. I love how these small pieces make me feel. Hopefully you also feel light, beautiful, seen, renewed, and a little brighter!
